Registering a domain
Important note
Dotsync is primarily a domain registrar for registering new domain names. If you already own a domain registered elsewhere and want to move it to Dotsync or use it with our DNS services, please see the domain-transfer guide and contact support — onboarding existing domains often requires additional steps and may not be fully automatic.
How to register a new domain
- Search for domain availability on Dotsync.
- Add the domain to your cart and choose registration period and privacy options.
- Complete payment and activate the domain.
- Once registered, use the Dotsync dashboard to add DNS records or enable additional services (SSL, CDN).
Domain name rules
- Allowed characters and length rules vary by TLD.
- Some TLDs require additional documentation.
Post-registration
- If you choose Dotsync-managed DNS, set your domain's nameservers to Dotsync's nameservers; otherwise, configure the required DNS records with your current DNS provider.
- Enable WHOIS privacy if desired.
