Registering a domain

Important note

Dotsync is primarily a domain registrar for registering new domain names. If you already own a domain registered elsewhere and want to move it to Dotsync or use it with our DNS services, please see the domain-transfer guide and contact support — onboarding existing domains often requires additional steps and may not be fully automatic.

How to register a new domain

  1. Search for domain availability on Dotsync.
  2. Add the domain to your cart and choose registration period and privacy options.
  3. Complete payment and activate the domain.
  4. Once registered, use the Dotsync dashboard to add DNS records or enable additional services (SSL, CDN).

Domain name rules

  • Allowed characters and length rules vary by TLD.
  • Some TLDs require additional documentation.

Post-registration

  • If you choose Dotsync-managed DNS, set your domain's nameservers to Dotsync's nameservers; otherwise, configure the required DNS records with your current DNS provider.
  • Enable WHOIS privacy if desired.
